Acts 1:8 Across the Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference of the Global Methodist Church

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Living Acts 1:8 Across Our Conference

Jesus calls us to share His love and make disciples, starting where we live and moving outward into the world. That calling is not only about doing good works or meeting practical needs, although those are important. It is also about proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ so that others hear and respond to Him. The New Testament teaching on witness makes clear that people cannot believe unless they hear, and they cannot hear unless someone proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.

Across the Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference, churches are serving in practical, faithful ways. Some congregations are meeting needs in their own neighborhoods and schools. Others are partnering with nearby churches and ministries to respond to regional needs. Some churches are praying regularly for unreached people groups and people who have never heard the gospel. Many are building friendships across cultural and language lines and supporting mission partners in other nations.

Every effort matters, whether large or small, and all of these efforts create opportunities for us to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in word as well as in life. Our goal is to see churches faithfully living out the full witness Jesus calls us to in Acts 1:8 — serving, caring, and sharing the gospel of Christ.

We are inviting every church to fill out the Acts 1:8 form, even if you do not currently have ministries active in each area. Whether your church is developing new outreach or looking to connect with others who are already serving, your response helps us see where God is working and where partnership can grow.

Please share one example in each of these four areas if possible:

Local community ministry (Jerusalem): Serving right where you live by meeting real needs in your community. This could include school partnerships, family support, student outreach, or care for vulnerable neighbors.

Regional ministry (Judea): Meeting needs in nearby communities through local mission work, shared service projects, or district partnerships. This includes opportunities where larger churches can invite smaller congregations to participate.

Cross-cultural mission (Samaria): Loving and serving people from different backgrounds or languages, locally or internationally, and building relationships that reflect the love of Christ across cultures.

Global mission support (Ends of the Earth): Praying for unreached communities, supporting missionaries, or sending mission teams to serve beyond our borders. Churches that organize trips can share openings for members of other congregations to join.

You do not need a long list or a detailed plan. We simply want to see where God is at work across our conference so we can encourage one another, learn from one another, and form stronger ministry partnerships. In submitting your Acts 1:8 form, please include both service and how the gospel of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed — by word and life — in each area of engagement. This helps us build a clear picture of how churches are answering the call to make disciples locally, regionally, across cultures, and around the world.
