Bishop Scott J. Jones

Bishop Scott J. Jones is a bishop of The Global Methodist Church. He was born in 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee, and was raised in Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, and Colorado. He received degrees from the University of Kansas and Southern Methodist University. His Ph.D. dissertation research was focused on Wesley Studies and the history of biblical interpretation. From 1986 to 1997 he served as pastor of three United Methodist congregations in the North Texas Conference. From 1997 to 2004 he served on the faculty of Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. There he taught courses in Evangelism, History of Christianity, United Methodist Studies, and Wesley Studies. In 2004 he was elected a bishop of The United Methodist Church and served the Kansas Area 2004-2012, the Great Plains Area 2012-2016, and the Houston Area 2016-2022. In 2023 he was received as an elder and bishop in The Global Methodist Church. He is the author or co-author of eleven books, most recently The Once and Future Wesleyan Movement and Scripture and the Wesleyan Way: A Bible Study on Real Christianity. Scott is married to Mary Lou Reece, who recently retired from being president of Reece Construction Company. They reside in Dallas, Texas, and have three children and seven grandchildren.

Rev. Jeremy Smith lead pastor at Crosspoint in Niceville, FL. Five years ago, Jeremy Smith was growing a large church of over 4,000 people across five sites. But one day, someone asked him, “what kind of disciples are you developing?” That question stopped him in his tracks. At the time, he was succeeding at every metric he was measuring, but that question kept him up at night. Over the next three years, Jeremy made a commitment to not just grow a big church, but to grow disciples who would make disciples who would make disciples. Over 2022-2023, Replicate got to work closely with Jeremy and his team to reimagine their vision for the church. what we love about Jeremy is the conviction he leads with. Even when everything looked great from the outside and it would have been easy to keep doing what he was doing, he had a conviction to make Jesus’ final words his first work…and he risked everything! Jeremy and the Crosspoint team created a vision that connected to the past, but called the congregation into a disciple-making future. They are leading an awakening of disciple-making in their church and the Global Methodist Church. Their vision is to by 2035 to see 2,000 leaders who know their calling and are deployed on mission, 3,000 conversions of faith, and 500 churches in the Global Methodist Church activated to start their own disciple-making movement. As big of a vision as this is, they are already on pace to surpass it!
