Conference Co-Lay Leaders Seek to Strengthen Connection with Local Church Lay Leaders
The Mississippi-West Tennessee Conference Co-Lay Leaders are working to strengthen communication and connection among local church Lay Leaders across the conference.
Each local church is encouraged to elect a Lay Leader or equivalent representative. Local church Lay Leaders help strengthen relationships between the congregation and church leadership. They also help keep the congregation informed about church leadership decisions and the work of the church.
In a similar way, the Conference Co-Lay Leaders help keep laity informed and connected to the work of the Mississippi-West Tennessee Conference of the Global Methodist Church.
To help build stronger connection across the conference, the Conference Co-Lay Leaders are creating a contact list of local church Lay Leaders. This list will help them communicate with Lay Leaders, share resources, and strengthen relationships among the laity of local churches.

A group Zoom meeting is being planned for early fall so local church Lay Leaders can connect with one another and with the Conference Co-Lay Leaders.
The Mississippi-West Tennessee Conference Co-Lay Leaders are also participating in a Global Methodist Church Co-Lay Leaders group with leaders from around the world. This group has been meeting by Zoom since February to foster connection, collaboration, shared ideas, and cross-cultural relationships throughout the denomination.
The group also plans to collaborate on developing guidelines for Lay Leaders that can be adapted for various churches, along with resources for local church laity.
Local church Lay Leaders are encouraged to share ideas, suggestions, and contact information with the Conference Co-Lay Leaders.
