Qatar Worship Space
Rendering of the future worship complex organized by the Evangelical Churches Alliance Qatar
Miracle In the Desert
Qatar is a Muslim country where open evangelism by Christians is not allowed, but the government has made space for Christian worship because of the large number of foreign workers living there. Christian communities in Qatar are made up entirely of people who have moved there for work, many of whom come from the Philippines. For years, these congregations have met in homes or shared spaces without a permanent or safe place to gather.
Through the Evangelical Churches Alliance Qatar, land has now been granted by the government for a new worship complex that will serve dozens of churches. The building still has to be funded by the churches themselves. The Global Methodist Church has been invited into this project, and the Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference is helping secure a dedicated worship space within that complex. Through our partnership with Global Methodist churches in the Philippines, we are already connected to many of the people now living and working in places like Qatar. This is a real opportunity for the Global Methodist Church to establish a foothold in a majority Muslim country as workers from around the world continue to come there for work. The Global Methodist portion of the worship center still needs approximately $270,000 to complete the space reserved for Global Methodist congregations. Churches and individuals who would like to support this effort can contribute through the Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference. Donations can be made by clicking the button below and selecting “Qatar” from the giving options. These gifts will go directly toward completing the worship space that will serve Global Methodist congregations gathering in Qatar.
