A Bible Basics Certified Lay Ministry course will be offered one day prior to Annual Conference. It is designed for anyone who wants to read Scripture more clearly and engage the text with confidence. For those pursuing certification, this course meets one of the five required courses.
Why Bishop Jones Spent a Week Traveling Our Conference
After committing to a Global Methodist worship space in Doha, Qatar, the Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference is now making monthly payments toward the project. With a large balance still owed, churches are being asked to help meet these obligations before Annual Conference.

Special Ordination Service for Rev. Mike Hart
Mike Hart will be ordained as an Elder in the Global Methodist Church during a special service on April 12 at Madison Methodist Church in Madison, Mississippi. Bishop Scott Jones will lead the service, which is being held earlier due to Mike’s illness. Friends from across the conference are welcome to attend and continue to keep Mike and his family in prayer.

Upcoming CLM Courses In April 2026
Two Certified Lay Ministry courses will be offered this April. Understanding the Call: Spiritual Gifts, taught by Bobby Morris, will be held April 17–18 at Caswell Springs Methodist Church in Moss Point. Congregational Care & Ethics, taught by Daniel Hathorne, will take place April 25 at Laurel First Methodist Church in Laurel.
Certified Lay Ministry: Preaching Course (SPECIALIZED COURSE)
Certified lay Ministry: Biblical Preaching. The Mississippi–West Tennessee Conference will offer a Specialized Course for Certified Lay Ministry course on March 6–7 at Amory First Methodist Church. Meeting Friday 5:30–8:30pm and Saturday 8am–1pm, this in-person training equips participants for faithful pulpit service. Cost is $20.

Certified Lay Ministry Training will take place at College Park Methodist Church in Meridian, MS on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 8:00am-4:00pm. Lunch will be provided on site.

Certified Lay Ministry course GMC History, Polity, and Theology will be held December 12–13, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, 4747 E Church Hill Rd, West Point, Mississippi. The course will be led by Guy Wimberly and scheduled for Friday, 5:30–8:30 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM.
